Abstract:
The paper presents and analyzes the experimental verification results of the relation between hard blade coating and blade lifespan. The verification was carried out by means of experimental comparison of coated and etalon blades. Identical conditions for all measured samples were ensured by measurement method, regardless the type and condition of the mowed material. The results proved that thin hard-material coatings increase the blade lifespan for all types of blades and operating modes. The premise, that the blade hardness is not a limiting factor for the lifespan, was also proved. Stronger limiting factors are cutting conditions determined by the shape of the blade and the penetrating angle.
